I keep missing so much time that I'm guilt-stricken at the thought of actually showing my figurative face around here. February -- zzzzzzsshhhhhh! And it's outta here! To be honest, February smelled suspiciously of baby puke. Tag teaming the kids takes up the lion's share (and her husband's too) of what used to pass for free time around here. I remember one Sunday when it just so happened that both kids miraculously fell asleep at exactly the same time in the early afternoon. My husband and I? We looked at each other, said thank-you to whatever god had smiled and winked at our life, and bee-lined straight for the bedroom. Please draw your attention away from the gutter now and return to our tour. To sleep, of course! What else do you use a bedroom for?

Having SO much fun getting a sense of how the REAL other half lives. I've been helping my client's mother clean closets and clear out the former extra bedroom at her "simple little flat," located conveniently at the center of the known universe. By center, I guess I mean Central Park East. She's cozy with the Frick, and I do not lie when I say that her address is: One East ____th Street. I mean -- One? I didn't know the numbers went that low! Yes, she does live in a tree in Central Park, thanks for asking. I am pretty sure that her shoe collection would put Galen through college. Fortunately, she has a simple little shoe closet about the size of the kids' room to house them. Seriously however, and even more fortunately, she's a really good and very down to earth human being. She's made of steel. Raised five kids on a ranch, retired back to NYC. She has some great stories, too. I'll see if I cannot relate some of them someday.
