La vida sigue. This weekend was a tremendous New York weekend experience. We went to the summer-long Victorian carnival at the Wollman rink in Central Park. I can't say enough good about this. It's for kids, with perfectly recreated victorian-era carnival rides, all shiny and new. And it was SO CLEAN! I mean, my normal associations with carnivals are run-down rides, nasty machine operators, your feet stick to the ground etc. This was diametrically opposed to all of that. There weren't even any lines the day we went. It's open until September 3rd, so I highly recommend it to anyone with young kids. Maybe Javier will even post some photos here (yeah, sure...).
On Sunday, Javier and Galen took me to Riverside Park. I laid like a whale in the shade on the grass, while the two "kids" played with dinosaurs, grass, dirt and sticks. They had a marvelous time. Then we had lunch at a little terrace cafe in the park at 104th street. It was really lovely sitting outdoors, overlooking the river -- very relaxing.
I read this morning that Compay Segundo died :( He had the right to, of course -- he was 95.
